If you need to add or update a large number of work instructions on a work order, you can import them from a CSV file instead of adding them one by one.
The import process can also be used to update existing work instructions within a work order.
Note: Importing synchronises the work instructions on the work order. Any work instructions that have not been started and are not included in the CSV will be removed from the work order.
If you're adding new work instructions to an existing work order, we recommend exporting the current list first, adding your new rows to the exported file, then importing the complete list back into HINDSITE.
Importing Work Instructions
Open the Work Order and click Import.
Download the CSV template, or export the existing work instructions if you're updating an existing work order.
Complete the template using the guidance below and save the file as a CSV.
Upload your completed CSV.

Column | Description |
HINDSITE ID | Leave this blank when creating new work instructions. If you export an existing work order, this field will already be populated and is used by HINDSITE to update existing work instructions. |
External ID | An optional unique identifier for the work instruction. This can be used for integrations or future imports instead of referencing the work instruction name. |
Work Instruction | The name of the work instruction to add. This must exactly match the name of an existing work instruction in HINDSITE unless you're using an External ID. |
Title | The title that will appear on the work order. This can be different from the work instruction's original name. |
Related Asset (Identifier) | The identifier of the asset the work instruction should be linked to. |
Assigned Users | The users who should be assigned to complete the work instruction. |
Note: Work Instruction names must exactly match the work instruction in HINDSITE unless an External ID is provided. If you are using an External ID, the Work Instruction column can be left blank.
Note: The Title column is optional and allows you to customise how the work instruction appears within the Work Order.
Updating existing Work Orders
To add or modify work instructions on an existing work order, export the current work instructions and make your changes in the CSV.
Add any new rows required.
Leave the existing HINDSITE ID values unchanged.
Import the updated CSV back into HINDSITE.
