Building your tools register

The Tools register allows you to track tools used across your operations, including inspection intervals and custom tool information.

Adding tool types

Tool types help you categorise tools and define inspection requirements.

To add a tool type, go to Tools from the navigation bar.

Click Manage, then Manage tool types.

Click New tool type and enter the tool type, as well as the inspection interval in months (if applicable).

Click Create.

Example tool types may include torque wrench, multimeter, pressure gauge or lifting equipment.


Adding tools manually

To create a single tool record, on the Tools page, click the Add tool button, then Add manually.

Enter the tool details:

  • Display name: the name or description of the tool

  • Serial number: The tool's serial number or identifier

  • Tool type

  • Location: the tool's current location

Complete any custom fields if required.

Click Create to add the tool to your register.


Importing parts via CSV

If you have an existing tool register, you can import multiple tools at once using a CSV file.

From the Tools page, click the Add tool button, then Import from CSV.

In the import modal, export the CSV template to ensure your data is formatted correctly.

Populate the template with your tools, including display name, serial number, tool type and location, as well as any custom fields.

Upload your completed CSV to import your tools into HINDSITE.

Note: The Tools register is admin-only and can only be accessed and managed by users with the appropriate permissions.
