Automated Alerts

You can trigger alerts automatically from within a work instruction when:

  • A decision is made

  • A multi-choice option is selected

  • A validation fails

To configure alerts within a work instruction, open the work instruction and click Edit Step on the relevant step.

For decisions or multi-choice options, click the three dots next to the specific option and enable Notify Manager.

For failed validations on text inputs, select Notify work order manager of failed validation and define your validation rules.

Don’t forget to publish the work instruction once your changes are complete.

Manual Alerts

Trigger alerts manually while completing a work instruction. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of each step and select Send alert from the drop down menu.

Assigning Alerts

By default, alerts are automatically assigned to the work order manager.

You can assign or update the work order manager via the Manager drop-down menu on the relevant work order.

Viewing and Managing Alerts

To view and manage alerts, click the Alerts icon in the navigation bar to open the Alerts page.

From here, you can:

  • View all triggered alerts assigned to you

  • Review details and context for each alert, including links to the related work instruction (in progress or completed)

  • Create and assign follow-up tasks or activities

  • Track resolution progress to ensure nothing is missed

You can also view alerts directly from the assigned work order. This allows you to see who each alert was sent to and track who has viewed it.

If push notifications are enabled in the HINDSITE mobile app, you’ll also receive a real-time notification whenever an automated or manual alert is triggered - ensuring you never miss a critical update.
