Starting a work instruction

Starting a work instruction is simple. Click the Start button next to the work instruction you want to complete and choose the location where the work will be performed.

The work instruction will open with a mix of instructional steps (which guide you on what to do) and steps requiring data input (based on how it is configured).

Depending on the configuration, you might be prompted to complete one or more of the following input types:

  • Multi choice – select one or more items from a list

  • Decision pathways – follow a branching path based on your selections

  • Text/numerical – enter typed or numerical data

  • Media – capture or upload photos and videos

  • Sketch pad – draw diagrams or sign digitally

  • Date/time – record the date and/or time

Inputs marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory - you won't be able to complete the work instruction until all required inputs are filled out.

Sections

If the work instruction includes sections, you can:

  • Collapse and expand them to keep your screen organised.

  • Tap the Sections menu at the top of your screen to open a navigation panel from the bottom, allowing you to jump directly to specific sections.

Pause and resume work

Need to pause? No problem.

  • Simply close the HINDSITE app or tap the back arrow in the top left corner of the screen.

  • When you're ready to resume, just return to the work instruction and tap Resume to continue where you left off.

Handover

Only one person can work on a specific work instruction at a time. To transfer it to someone else:

Tap the three dot menu in the top right corner. Select Handover and add any relevant handover notes.

Once handed over, any user with access to the work order can continue the work instruction. A work instruction can be handed over as many times as needed.

Work instruction Status

Each work instruction will have a clear status to help you keep track of your progress:

  • Incomplete – work hasn't started yet

  • In Progress – work is underway

  • Available - work has started but is available for any user to continue

  • Complete – all steps are finished and submitted; a report is available for review.

Completing a work instruction

When you’ve finished all steps, hit the Finish button.

If you're online:

  • Data will start syncing automatically with the server

  • You can leave the screen, the sync will continue in the background

  • From the finish screen, you can view the report or share it via email.

If you're offline:

  • Data is safely cached on your device

  • Once connectivity is restored, HINDSITE will automatically start uploading the completed instruction to the server.
