Each step in a work instruction can include one or more user input types. This allows you to collect different kinds of data and tailor steps to your needs.

To add user inputs, click the Edit step button, then choose the input type you want to configure.

Decision pathways

Create branching logic based on the user’s selection during execution.

  • Configure up to 20 different decision options

  • Set colours and flagging rules

  • Trigger automated actions

  • Each pathway can include its own unique steps and content

Multi choice

Let users select one or more options from a custom list.

  • Define your own options

  • Set required fields

  • Apply colour coding, flagging, and automated actions

Text/numerical

Collect freeform or numeric data entries.

  • Add prefixes and suffixes

  • Apply validation rules (e.g. min/max ranges or exact lengths)

  • Set fields as optional or required

  • Restrict inputs to numbers only if needed

Media

Enable users to upload or capture images and videos.

  • Unlimited uploads per media input

  • Supports camera and gallery on compatible devices

Sketch pad

Capture diagrams, notes, or digital signatures. Currently available in the HINDSITE mobile app only.

Date/time

capture date and/or time entries in 12-hour or 24-hour time.

Using conditional inputs

Make your work instructions smarter by showing users only the inputs that matter. Conditional inputs allow you to display follow-up fields based on what a user selects or enters. Learn more about using conditional inputs here.
